When I would tell people that I was going to be photographing my friend’s wedding while wearing a bridesmaid dress, I would get the craziest looks. Yes, I know it sounded crazy, but I knew in my heart that I could do it. Being able to photograph one of my best friends getting married to the man she has waited for all of her life was something that left my heart overflowing with so many emotions. With Cassie it has always been more than just a friendship, she is my sister. I have seen her become an amazing mother, graduate from college while working full time and raising her sweet babies, and buying her first house all on her own. I have watched her heart break and her build it back up again into something stronger and finally fall in love with one of the best men I think God could have given her. When I worked with Matt at the golf course, I got to know him, and I just had this feeling that Cassie would be a good fit for him and Matt a good fit for her. My one big thing when it came to anyone stepping into her life was that they had to love the complete package, not just Cassie but her little nuggets as well. I knew Matt had his life together, and while speaking with him, I knew he loved kids. Talking with him about Cassie and making sure he would be able to love not just a woman but the sweet babies that came along with I knew that he was the man she needed. Trying to set these two up felt like a battle, I didn’t want Matt to miss out on an amazing woman, so I bugged him a little….ok, a lot. Finally, after meeting her for the second time, Cassie won him over. Fast forward and he was talking about proposing and when he finally did I was so beyond happy that Cassie was able to have her happy with Matt. Since they got engaged, I have seen their relationship grow even stronger. They are best friends; he gets her personality, and she gets his. They understand each other on this incredible deep level and to witness that has made me so overjoyed. I look at Cassie, a woman who has been through hell and back protecting her babies while doing it, and then I look at Matt who needed the other piece to his puzzle. These two needed each other; it may have taken me pushing Matt and annoying him beyond reason to finally ask Cassie on a date, but all of the pushing was so totally worth it. I CANNOT WAIT to watch these two grow even closer through their marriage. I love you both so much, and I am so beyond grateful that I was able to photograph your gorgeous wedding day!
P.S. HUGE thank you to my amazing second and third shooters Cara and Kala. Without you two ladies I would not have been able to be the girl Cassie needed. Love you!
