Over the winter I decided to do a last minute bridal show, I didn’t think anything of it signing up, but at the end, I felt like it was the best decision I could have made. I met this girl who was bubbily and so sweet who sent me an email literally an hour after she met me at the show and wanted to book me as her photographer and her name was Meghan. It was like I had known her for years, she got my sense of humor and my weird personality. Sitting down at our first meeting with John by her side I got so excited for their wedding day! Meghan and John will end up being more than just a couple I will photograph, they will end up being that couple that I will be friends with. For their engagement session, they decided on Meghan’s family farm that her grandparents owned. That farm is so unique to Meghan because she spent many days on that farm. During summer break she would spend weeks with them at a time. Her grandparents were both from the south, so they instilled very southern views in her family. Every Sunday after church was spent on the farm as a family. During harvest and planting season she spent many hours in a tractor with her grandpa or in the kitchen with her grandma preparing food for the boys in the fields and when she was finally old enough she was in a tractor driving next to her grandpa. She spent many days in that cattle yard tagging and checking cattle, riding her horse in that waterway and playing in the white barn on the property. She emailed me the story above, and I knew I did my job when she said “When I look at that picture I see all of those memories, but I also see the man who I’m going to create memories with in the future and create a new story with. My grandparents were my best friends and that farm my safe and happy place. Now that you know all of that I want you to know how you gave me something I could never have even dreamed of. You gave me a piece of my grandparents and a piece of my grandpa in a picture with my soon to be husband. That’s a picture that I will be able to show my kids one day, but also look at for years to come and remember the happy memories of that place that made me into the person I am today. I feel like thank you will never be enough. You are truly an amazing photographer, and I am so lucky to of met you and got to have you photograph this special time in our lives.”

Those words right there are something that I will forever cherish as a photographer. Going into this career, I wanted to be able to provide something to my couples that had meaning and purpose. This engagement session and a couple are one that will always have a piece of my heart.
